Family law covers a wide range of matters, including divorce, children law and financial separation issues. When disagreements arise, professional guidance helps ensure fair outcomes. We are approachable and friendly, and we will be in your corner from the start of proceedings to the end, always making sure your best interests are at the forefront.
Our partners Lucy Ardern and Paula Hamilton each have over 30 years' experience working exclusively in family law. They regularly advise on:
- Divorce
- Financial settlements
- Children
- Civil partnerships
- Unmarried couples and cohabitation
- Grandparent advice
- Domestic abuse
- Prenuptial agreements
Both are members of Resolution, which promotes the resolution of disputes in a constructive and non-confrontational way, with a view to keeping your costs to a minimum. We offer initial fixed-fee consultations to help you understand your options and likely costs.
Wills, Probate & Trusts
Our Wills & Probate department provides comprehensive estate planning and administration services, giving you peace of mind that your wishes will be carried out. Our work includes:
- Will drafting
- Administration of estates, including intestacies
- The creation of trusts
- Powers of attorney and Office of the Public Guardian matters
- Inheritance tax and capital gains tax planning
How we charge
We explain our pricing to each client individually, and estimates will be provided whenever possible as to the likely total cost. Fixed fees are available for straightforward wills and lasting powers of attorney, with charges otherwise reflecting the complexity and time involved.
How it works
We prioritise understanding your needs through an initial meeting. A dedicated fee earner manages the day-to-day work on your file, while a partner retains overall responsibility for each matter. Our Wills, Probate & Trusts department is led by Alan Smith.
Commercial Property
Our Commercial Property team handles the whole range of commercial property issues. We act on the acquisition and disposal of all types of commercial property, including offices, shops, factories, licensed premises and farmland, both freehold and leasehold, as well as land for development and redevelopment.
Where premises are critical to your operation, we make sure your interests are properly protected, handling matters smoothly and efficiently and supporting you to achieve your objectives within your timescales, however urgent.
Competitive, transparent pricing
We discuss fees with you upfront, tailoring charges to the type of transaction. We offer a competitive service and give clear details of hourly rates and all anticipated expenses, including search fees and stamp duties.
We act for clients of every size, from small self-managed businesses and medium-sized local and regional companies to publicly listed corporations operating nationally, including London-based firms. The team is led by Samantha Jewell, Head of Commercial Property and Commercial Services, with Partner Mark Woolsey.
